Emotionally Focused Therapy

I work with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a highly researched model effective in counselling for couples and individuals. Based in adult attachment science, EFT understands that people are fundamentally relational. In applying this powerful model I want to get to the emotional heart of things, to support you to feel strong and capable in yourself and your relationship.

I draw on this as my primary approach for several reasons:
  • EFT is depathologising. We want to understand what you have been through, how this impacted you then and how it impacts you now - not what's 'wrong' with you.
  • EFT has a robust evidence base as effective
    • In couple therapy it is the gold standard in reducing relational distress and producing improvements that are sustained over time. 
    • For individuals too EFT is shown to be effective
